How to Improve School Culture through Teacher Empowerment
Objectives:
This module was designed to help find ways for teachers to get back their power and use it to improve school culture.
By the end of this module participants will be able to:

- Understand and define the culture in which they are working in.
- Determine ways to increase their teacher leadership.
- Define the characteristics of school culture.
- Provide teachers with empowerment to create positive school culture.
- Identify areas in their school that need improvement regarding school culture.
- Use research based strategies to implement ways to positively reinforce the school culture.
- Implement an effective strategies that will increase teacher empowerment in a more positive school culture.

Steps:
Participants goals in this module are to use the theory of teacher empowerment to find ways to improve their school culture. In order to do this, please follow the steps below.
1. Read the home page to determine your objectives and steps.
2. Go to the School Culture tab to read about school culture.
3. Take the Challenge: watch the scenario video located under the Challenge tab. This video will outline your mission for the module.
4. Take the culture survey located as a subheading under Challenge as it relates to your school. There are three sections of surveys you will need to take in order to get your complete results.
5. Reflect on the difference between what the research says under the School Culture tab and what your survey results where.
6. Analyze your results and determine which areas are strengths and which are areas for improvement.
7. Compare these to the characteristics identified on the Perspectives & Resources page.
8. Find a characteristic in which your school scored low in and are determined to work on.
9. Find the tab correlated to that characteristic and use those resources to help decide what strategies you can use to empower and build positive school culture.
10. Under the assessments tab you will be asked to use your knowledge to post on the forum some suggestions or ideas on how you would improve teacher empowerment and school culture in the challenge.
11.Under the assessment tab there will be scenarios related to school culture characteristics and you will be asked to identify and apply previous knowledge through posting responses to questions on each.
12. Under the Wrap Up tab you will revisit the original task and post on the forum your answers to the questions posted.
13. Evaluation: Under the Wrap Up tab please take the time to answer the 3 questions to help evaluate this module.
